Aerobaticspiloot komt om bij vliegshow in China

ZHANGYE - De Zuid-Afrikaanse aerobaticspiloot Michel Leusch is afgelopen weekend om het leven gekomen bij een vliegshow in China. Op videobeelden is te zien dat Leusch de controle over het toestel verliest en omlaag valt. Leusch (33) vloog voor het aerobaticsteam Firestars.

Met dat team nam Leusch deel aan de vliegshow rond de 1st Silk Road International General Aviation Convention in Zhangye in de provincie Gansu. Het team vliegt met XtremeAir XA42’s. De Firestars hebben China als thuisbasis maar de piloten zijn uitsluitend Zuid-Afrikanen.
